Accommodation managers at the University of Cumbria are making a plea for private landlords to come forward with housing available for students starting at the Ambleside Campus in September 2014.

Landlords from Ambleside and the surrounding area with rooms or houses available for students should contact the university as soon as possible to meet the demand of students moving onto their second or third year of study.

The university operates a “headlease” arrangement which gives landlords the opportunity to lease their property to the university, which in turn sub-lets the accommodation to a group of students.

The university manages the letting on behalf of the landlord, and will ensure regular checks take place at the property as well as guaranteeing to pay the rent for the term of the lease.

Lucy Roberts, commercial services manager at the Carlisle campus, said: “Due to demand, our university accommodation for first year students in Ambleside for September 2014 will be at capacity.

“We would really like private landlords who have availability for students to come forward and let us know and we can direct students to them.”

Landlords interested in working with the University of Cumbria in Ambleside are invited to attend one of the university’s drop-in sessions. Events will take place on Monday 25 November from 9.30am to 11.30am and Monday 9 December from 4pm to 6pm in room CM0.05 in the Charlotte Mason Building at the University of Cumbria Ambleside Campus.
