The National Landlords Association has appointed a Chief Executive Officer for the first time.

Richard Lambert will join the NLA, which until now has been largely run by its executive chairman, David Salusbury, on October 1.

Salusbury, who will remain in his role, said: “Richard will work with the NLA Board to build on this progress as we continue to consider how we can best speak for landlords, making their needs known to the Government and within the media, whilst still providing the best possible service for our members.

“Richard is an experienced professional with wide knowledge of the private rented sector, and I look forward to working with him as the NLA moves towards its strategic goals.”

Lambert began his career as a parliamentary civil servant before moving into public affairs, working for a number of trade associations. He spent five years as a policy director at the British Property Federation where he was responsible for establishing the organisation’s involvement in residential property issues.

Most recently, he has been chief executive at the British Woodworking Federation.

Lambert commented: “The NLA has established itself at the forefront of the private rented sector, working to raise standards among the landlord community and promoting best practice within the sector. I leapt at the opportunity to join such a dynamic association.”
