I Am The Agent,  a self-service agent, has just launched a ‘Rent My Spare Room’ service which it says it will be advertising on all the major property portals, including Rightmove, Zoopla and FindaProperty.

I Am The Agent is offering the service for just £49 as the roomshare business booms, and as more self-service agents lay down their challenges to traditional high street agents (see the latest Upad story).

I Am The Agent managing director Rebecca Peach said: “Often, renting a room is just as stressful as letting an apartment or house. You need to market it right in order to attract an ideal tenant. We filter all inquiries and introduce prospective tenants, and can provide tenancy agreements and credit checks if needed, making the whole process stress-free.

“With the current economic climate, we expect Rent My Spare Room to be one of our most popular services in the next 12 months as home-owners look for easy ways to make extra money.”

I Am The Agent describes itself as an online estate agency with a no-commission fee structure but which instead charges transparent fixed fees for its services’.

It charges self-service vendors a ‘spiffing £299’ which includes VAT and a board, and a fixed fee of £69 for its lettings service.

It displays the Property Ombudsman logos for both lettings and sales on its site, where it describes Rightmove, Zoopla and FindaProperty as partner agents.
