Tougher action due on rogue landlords, says Shapps
Friday 27th April 2012
Housing minister Grant Shapps has been in talks with local authorities worried about bad landlords, and expects to take action.
He made the revelation in a Commons answer to Labour MP David Anderson, who asked whether Shapps had taken any steps to “ensure that landlords letting private properties are made more responsible for maintaining their property in a decent state of repair”.
Shapps replied: “I recently met a number of local authorities and interested parties to discuss how we can most effectively work together to tackle the small minority of rogue and criminal landlords.
“We will be issuing further advice to local authorities shortly.”
