Q: Who are you?

I am Elemi Atigolo a Partner of Clearwater Wealth Management - a Principal Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management (a multi-award winning, FTSE 100 listed company and one of the UK's leading wealth management specialists with £75.3bn of client funds under management).

Q: How long have St. James’s Place Wealth Management been trading?

The St. James's Place Group was established in 1991 by Sir Mark Weinberg, Mike Wilson CBE and Lord Rothschild under the name of the J. Rothschild Assurance Group and started trading in 1992.

Q: How did it all start for you in the industry?

After graduating with a Master Degree in Accounting and Finance I embarked on a career in financial services starting my career in HSBC Wealth Management, I obtained experience working with private clients, advising on investments, pensions, mortgages and protection, it provided me with a great foundation to putting my clients at the forefront. Following my time at HSBC I spent time at LSL Property Service LSL a leading provider of residential property services advising private clients.

Instead we carefully select a few external managers of outstanding ability to manage our range of funds.

This has many advantages:

•           It gives us the freedom to select first-class managers from the global investment market to manage our funds on behalf of our clients 

•           It enables us to change any of these managers at short notice if we have lost confidence in them, without any charges, or tax, or inconvenience to our clients 

•           It offers our clients a real opportunity to diversify their investments by spreading their money across funds managed by different managers with different styles

Q: What are the risks of investing with you?

We have a strong financial track record of delivering above average returns for our clients over the long term and although there is significant opportunity for a return on investment through our approach, we make our clients aware that the value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

Q: How do you create value for your clients (how do you go above the call of duty)?

I specialize in looking after a select number of clients within our Practice, my team and I are determined to maintain the very highest level of service; to maintain this, we only work with and focus our attention on a small number of important client relationships, this allows us to provide our clients with exceptional investment strategies and a completely personal service.

We provide trusted advice to individuals and can act if required as the family's ‘private financial advisor’ in dealing with all their financial needs under one roof. We will identify priority issues, build a strategic plan and develop solutions together to meet their objectives.

We provide a wide range of bespoke wealth management services and have access to other high quality professional advisers and associates in the UK and overseas.

Q: What do you feel it takes to be successful in the industry?

Having the knowledge, qualifications and experience goes without question, however in my opinion to be truly successful one must develop the art of taking the time to listen to their clients and put clients at the heart of what they do to form a client centric approach with the fundamental mission to strive to deliver the best outcomes for their clients, which is how I work with my clients and how our practice is run.
