Managing Director

Who is Curlett Jones Estates?

I like to think of Curlett Jones Estates as your local property people. We proudly operate across the Northwest and Northeast, with branches in Southport, Waterloo, and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

We take a friendly but professional approach to everything we do, making sure our clients have a smooth, stress-free, and positive experience, whether they’re buying, selling, letting, or renting.

Peter and I founded Curlett Jones Estates together. With my background in property law, I was determined to build a company on expert knowledge, trust, and genuine care. That legal insight means we can offer a deeper level of support and guidance at every stage of your property journey, from your first valuation all the way to completion and beyond.

How do you help landlords and property investors?

We’ve been at this a long time, over 35 years combined experience helping landlords and investors make the most of their property and maximise their rental income. Every landlord is different, and we treat them that way. Whether you own a single property or an entire portfolio, we create a service that fits you, from tenant find to fully managed solutions. Our team will feed back how they think you can achieve more rent on your property and then get everything actioned for you, so you don’t have to lift a finger.

We also take tenant matching seriously, with thorough referencing and background checks to protect both landlords and tenants. Once tenants are in, we take care of absolutely everything: rent collection, maintenance, inspections, legal compliance, you name it. And with our phone lines open 24/7, we’re always here for landlords, tenants, and their property so it’s a completely hands-off experience giving you peace of mind.

How is Curlett Jones Estates different from other agents?

What really sets us apart is that we do everything under one roof. Whatever a landlord, or tenant, needs, we’ll find a solution. Want to sell a property? We can handle it. Want to switch from traditional renting to serviced accommodation? We’ve got it covered.

We pride ourselves on being seamless and adaptable. That means our clients don’t have to juggle multiple agents or worry about gaps in service, everything from sales, lettings, and property management to block management and investment advice is managed professionally, efficiently, and with a personal touch. Simply put, if there’s a solution, we’ll make it happen, and we’ll do it in a way that’s smooth, stress-free, and tailored to each individual client.

What are the benefits of using a professional property management company versus self-managing?

Honestly, the benefits are huge. Property management can be stressful and time-consuming, especially right now with legislation changing constantly. Using a professional company like Curlett Jones Estates takes that stress, and often unexpected costs, off your shoulders. It gives you peace of mind knowing that every aspect of your property, from compliance to maintenance and tenant relations, is being handled properly.

It also frees up your time so you can focus on re-investing your income into new projects or simply enjoying the rewards of your investment. And let’s be honest, in today’s landscape, missing even one detail on compliance can be costly for both landlords and tenants. By letting us manage the day-to-day, you’re choosing a safer, smarter option that protects everyone involved while making your life a whole lot easier.

What is your greatest achievement in your current role and what made it so special?

One of my proudest moments has to be opening our second branch in Waterloo. It wasn’t just about growth or numbers, it was a real milestone that reflected the hard work, dedication, and vision of our whole team. Seeing our name on a second location, knowing we were able to bring our signature mix of professionalism, care, and energy to a new community, was incredibly rewarding.

What made it truly special was watching the team come together to make it happen. From finding the right space to setting up systems, training staff, and getting everything ready for our clients, it was a huge team effort. And the best part? Seeing the local community respond so positively, people trusting us with their homes, their investments, and their futures. It reinforced everything Peter and I set out to do with Curlett Jones Estates, which was to build a company that genuinely cares about people, not just property.

What is the most satisfying part of your job?

Honestly, it’s knowing we make landlords’ lives easier. Property management can be stressful, and it’s fabulous to take that burden off their shoulders. I also love the educational side, running webinars and sharing insights to help landlords understand legislation, market trends, and best practices. There’s nothing better than seeing that knowledge empower them to make smart decisions.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing landlords at the moment?

Without a doubt, it’s navigating the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill and all the legislative changes that come with it. The private rental sector is evolving fast, and the penalties for non-compliance are higher than ever. That’s where a professional agent comes in. We’re on top of every change, guiding landlords with clarity and confidence.

What is your property prediction for the next 12 months?

I see a big shift in how landlords manage their property. With legislation becoming more demanding, more will move away from self-management and look to professional agents. Property values in the Northwest will keep growing, especially in Liverpool and Manchester. The rental market will remain competitive, but landlords who adapt early, professionalise their approach, and stay compliant will be the ones who come out on top.
