Mark Francois, the MP for Rayleigh and Wickford has been appointed the new housing minister, replacing Brandon Lewis.

The move was part of a cabinet reshuffle in the first week of the new Government.

Francois, 50, previously served as Minister of State for the Armed Forces under the coalition government.

During the 2009 expenses scandal, Francois was described as “a bit of an animal” by the Daily Telegraph due to his love for Peperoni. The slogan was used in an advertising campaign for the snack at the time.
