Landlord offers his flat for free to homeless people this Christmas

A buy-to-let landlord who used to live in his car is offering his flat for free to homeless people over the festive period.

Laurence Lameche has taken to social media to reach out to people to help him find potential candidates to stay in his home while it is vacant over Christmas.

The London-based landlord ideally wants a family to occupy the two-bedroom property, which carries a rental value of around £2,000 a month.

Having experienced what it is like to be homeless, Lameche said that he wanted to offer other people now being forced to live without a fixed address the opportunity to have somewhere to stay over the next few days.

In a video post, he said: “It's really cold right now, the temperature has dropped and it's coming up to Christmas.

“This apartment is empty, and I just wanted to help someone, or a group of people, or a family who may be homeless right now.

“So I'm just reaching out to you, your friends, family, colleagues - anyone that you know who could help me find someone.”

He added: “I personally know what it's like, because when I first moved to London, I actually slept in my car during winter.

“I wanted to try and give back and help someone."

If you know someone who might benefit from Lameche’s property over the Christmas period, you can contact him via his Facebook page by simply clicking here.
