New deposit protection training for landlords in Norwich

Landlords in Norwich are being offered an opportunity to attend a couple of workshops designed to give landlords and property professionals training in tenancy deposit protection and tenancy deposit disputes.

The first of the two training courses, which will be hosted by tenancy deposit protection specialist, TDS, will take place this Wednesday, while the second event will be held on Wednesday 21st February.

This week’s workshop is designed to help landlords anticipate and head off problems that frequently arise during a tenancy.

The second event, which will take place next month, will cover the process of adjudication when disputes over deposit deductions arise. Landlords, agents and property managers that attend will take on the role of adjudicators in a range of scenarios and case studies giving an insight into the detail that adjudicators consider when reviewing a tenancy deposit dispute.

Lawyer Hilary Crook will deliver the Tenancy Masterclass, while Michael Morgan, director of dispute Resolution at TDS, will host the adjudication workshop.

Morgan said: “As well as protecting tenancy deposits, TDS is committed to providing guidance and improving standards in the private rented sector. These courses will help landlords and agents in Norwich to provide a higher quality service to their tenants and better protect their own investments.

“Many landlords and letting agents still make errors at the beginning of tenancies that have a knock-on effect when it comes to recouping rent arrears or damage deductions at the end of the lease agreement. These can be easily avoided and our courses aim to educate attendees on the pitfalls and how best to prevent them.”
