New ‘BTL toolkit’ launched by GWlegal

GWlegal has launched a buy-to-let toolkit, available on its online case management system GWlive, as part of the company’s rebrand as a modern law firm.

Aimed at providing valuable guidance to lenders, brokers and clients alike, the new ‘buy-to-let toolkit’ contains a wide range of information aimed at first-time and experienced landlords to help them with the buy-to-let process, including a ‘buy-to-let guide’, with information and FAQs about stamp duty, information for landlords and a checklist for landlord responsibilities, including HMOs.

The toolkit also features a ‘company buy-to-let guide’, with information and FAQs about the requirements and obligations for the limited company environment.

Emma Hall, head of sales at GWlegal, said: “With so many changing rules and regulations, the buy-to-let sector is becoming increasingly complex to navigate, to the point many transactions now require not just your average conveyancer but a specialist property lawyer to get the job done right.”

Last month GWlegal launched a new service tailored to specialist buy-to-let brokers and landlords.

The service, called GW Expert Buy-To-Let, provides buy-to-let investors with advice and guides detailing the rules and regulations associated with investing in property with a mortgage. This includes complex buy-to-let and limited company transactions.

Hall added: “We thought it would be a good idea to ensure our clients and partners are as informed about the legal aspects of buy-to-let as possible.

“We are the first law firm to offer such a service, so this is something that is really much needed.”
