Two leading letting agents in Burnley have become the latest to be recognised for their professional approach to looking after their properties and tenants by Burnley Council’s good landlord and agent scheme (GLAS).
Laura Stockdale, letting manager at Jon Simon, along Gareth Hooley, director of Petty estate agents, were this week presented with GLAS certificates by Burnley Council chief operating officer Lukman Patel.
Following a series of property inspections and an audit of their management procedures, the council concluded that the agents possessed the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully manage private rented properties.
No fewer than 10 agents have now been accredited to the council’s new code of practice since 2016, including Belvoir Lettings (Burnley), RPC (Rehman Property Consultancy) Sycamore Letting Company Ltd (Pendle), The Bee Hive, Falcon and Foxglove , Eafield and Maple (Lettings) Ltd, IMC (North West) Kes Properties Limited.
The council, which has been administrating an accreditation scheme in Burnley for 17 years, has also recognised a number of landlords, as part of wider efforts to raise property conditions and property management standards throughout the borough.
John Harbour, the council’s executive member for housing and leisure, said: “Burnley Council works with private landlords to support them and encourage them to raise their standards. These two businesses deserve credit for being accredited under our new code of practice.
“It reflects their professional approach to how they go about their business and the fact they are committed to providing a top class service to their tenants.”
