The rapid spread of the coronavirus is causing cancellations and postponements of property events around the globe.
Mipim, the property sector’s annual jamboree in Cannes, has been called off, while closer to home, the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Birmingham and Property Investor Show in London are among the casualties as the epidemic presents an unprecedented challenge to the property industry.
The National Homebuilding & Renovating Show was due to take place at the NEC exhibition centre in Birmingham on 26th to 29th March, while the Property Investor Show, which was due to take place on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April, is the benchmark event for the residential sector, not to mention the largest networking hub that the industry has to offer.
A statement on the Property Investor Show’s website states: ‘In response to logistical, practical and health-related concerns raised by both exhibitors and visitors in recent days - and the latest UK government recommendation to avoid gatherings and crowded places - the April 2020 edition of the show will NOT take place.
‘However ... the most comprehensive exhibition of UK & International residential property (and services) will return to ExCel London in October 2020.’
