Possession Process - new guidance issued for landlords

The government has issued new guidance for landlords and tenants concerning the possession process as applied to those on an Assured Shorthold Tenancy or an Assured Tenancy.

It applies to England and Wales.

“This guide will help you to understand what rights and responsibilities you have as a landlord when you need to use the courts to take possession of your property. This includes the new arrangements which will be introduced in association with the lifting of the suspension of possession cases in the county court on 21 September 2020” says a statement from the newly-renamed Department for Levelling Up, Housing and the Communities.

The guide does not cover leasehold, holiday lets or landlords with lodgers.
