The government has issued revised guidance for landlords on the subject of tax - specifically about rental income and self assessment.
In terms of rental income, the guidance leads landlords to a live webinar scheduled for tomorrow morning which will cover how to tell HMRC you are receiving income from property, what deductions and expenses and allowable, and new topics such as using cash basis, mileage rates and finance costs.
There’s already a recorded webinar available covering similar ground - you can find that here.
In terms of self assessment, the new guidance looks at how landlords can completely their online tax returns.
There’s a recorded webinar available here which will show how to sign in and start your return, show your income from property details, finish and submit your return, and pay anything you owe.
