Buy To Let in a National Park? It might work says mortgage broker

A buy to let mortgage broker says that investment in a National Park property could help landlords cash in on the staycation trend.

Demand for UK holidays is booming with Britons being expected to spend an average of £353 each in the summer months on UK holidays. Meanwhile National Parks across the UK attracting approximately 100m visitors each year, even before the pandemic restricted overseas travel.

Norton Finance has created a formula combining property prices, average monthly rental, gross rental yield and Google search data to reveal the investment potential of National Parks.

It shows that Snowdonia National Park in north west Wales is the best NP location to invest in buy to let with the average property costing £203,320 and a potential gross yearly rental yield of 20.46 per cent.

The Lake District in Cumbria is second and the Brecon Beacons National Park third.

Norton Finance’s formula included average property prices on Rightmove, and the average price of a week-long stay in a four bed property from Airbnb.
