Gloves Off! Lively debate on the agenda at Property Investor Show

The Property Investor Show returns to London’s Excel Centre next month – the first major UK property event to go ‘face to face’ since the pandemic began.

Around 100 exhibitors are anticipated along with 6,000 property investors set to attend on October 15 and 16.

The show is set to include 60 live panels and speaker sessions aimed at landlords and investors, with the emphasis on hard hitting debate.

‘Protecting Yourself from Tenant Fraud’ and is hosted by Channel 5’s Paul Shamplina, Founder of Landlord Action, and will also feature Krstjan Byfield of the London agency Base Property.

Shamplina says: “There’s often a disproportionate focus on so called rogue landlords and this tiny section of the sector tends to get huge attention. But I will be discussing the growing problem of bad tenants taking advantage of Airbnb popularity and how many landlords are being taken for a ride financially with dodgy individuals sub-letting properties illegally. Who should take responsibility? That’s the big question”.

Outspoken industry controversialist Russell Quirk will host a session asking ‘What’s next for the rental sector?’. He is joined by Eddie Hooker of Hamilton Fraser, David Cox - formerly of ARLA and now Rightmove’s compliance chief - and Chris Norris, a director at the National Residential Landlords Association.

“The last 18 months has seen a bumper property market and that’s benefited landlords and property investors hugely with capital gains in the double digits. But this surely cannot be sustained, and I will be asking the panel what they think 2022 and beyond looks like from a property value and tenant demand perspective – and adding my own perspective of course. When does the runaway train stop, if at all?” says Quirk.

Nick Clark, organiser of the Property Investor Show, adds “We are delighted to be back as the first physical event after 18 months of restrictions. October’s show is shaping up to be one of our biggest and our best as there will be some familiar exhibitors such as the NRLA, Knight Knox, Bradleys, Hamilton Fraser and many more but also new ones plus thousands of visitors over the two days. Our panel and speaker lineup will inform and entertain and, of course, it’s all free to visitors’.

“Arguably, there has never been a more important time for property investors and suppliers to be best informed about the market, compliance, government policy, technology solutions and advantageous products – the Property Investor Show is the venue to see and hear all that is going on in this fast-moving sector.”

Visitors can attend for free and can book their free tickets here and the complete list of seminar speakers can be seen here.
