Landlords are invited to what’s been called “a groundbreaking conference” on improving energy efficiency in traditionally built properties.

This one day event, in Swaffham in Norfolk, is on March 19 and is now open for registration.

The event provides guidance from organisations including Historic England, the National Trust, and Matter of Place Architects.

There will be expert talks explaining case studies and best practice for making older buildings more energy-efficient; a practical session looking at what landlords want to improve in their own properties and potential barriers; and a llunchtime heritage tour showcasing Swaffham’s historic market town buildings.

A Breckland council spokesperson says: “This conference is a fantastic opportunity for landlords to gain valuable insights into how they can make their properties more energy-efficient while respecting the historical integrity of their buildings. Retrofitting traditional homes is essential in our drive for a greener, more sustainable Norfolk, whilst delivering on our aim of making Swaffham’s unique heritage the economic driver for the town.”

And a representative of the Norfolk Climate Change Partnership, supported the event, adds: “Landlords who have traditional buildings experience a real challenge knowing how they can retrofit their property to make it more energy efficient, affordable and cosy. We hope that events like this will show them what steps they can take to make their properties work better for them and inspire them to take action.”
