The Association for Rental Living – a group which acts as a cheerleader for Build To Rent – wants the niche sector to unite.

It’s launched a new manifesto in which it outlines goals, values and objectives.

Chief executive Brendan Geraghty says: “The … sector stands at a pivotal moment. As government policy shifts toward pro-growth and pro-housing strategies, we have a powerful opportunity — and responsibility — to demonstrate the sector’s current and future value to society, government and business.

“Together, we’re shaping the future of rental living, empowering it to be stronger, smarter and better for all.”

The association has published a Build to Rent Code of Practice and draft Customer Charter.

It now wants the sector’s various operators to work together to win government backing to deliver up to two million additional homes in the UK and unlock £300 billion in long-term investment.

It says a swathe of committees and regional boards it has set up could help develop policy and establish and share best practice.

The ARL describes itself as representing all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental sectors, including urban and suburban single-family and multi-family rental, co-living, and later living.
