The Generation Rent activist group is recruiting a new Research and Engagement Officer whose responsibilities will include building relationships with landlord groups.

The job – which attracts a salary of £37,500 for a 35 hour week, working from home – contains this responsibility in the job description:  “Support Generation Rent’s general campaigning work by seeking out and building relationships with allies including politicians, journalists, tenant unions, landlord groups, trade unions and local authorities.”

The successful candidate will also be involved in fund-raising and working with the group’s corporate partners, as well as conducting research to help address so-called “gaps in the case for policy change”. 

The individual will also plan and deliver a renter participation strategy, leading the group’s engagement with private tenants and using social media and other communications channels to “inspire them [tenants] to take action.”

The lengthy list of responsibilities also include coordinating Generation Rent’s campaign to improve voter registration rates among private renters, including “working with decision-makers around the forthcoming Elections Bill.”
