I don't have an issue as long as there is parity with a tenant register. As ever a sledge hammer to crack a walnut as politically it sounds great in a week or two of bad headlines (or year!). There are over 140 bits of legislation governing the sector - here is an idea; fund the Councils and the Courts to properly enforce!! Oh and whilst you are at it is might be worth your while taking a look at the Councils stock and the condition they are in, perhaps get your own house in order first!

100% this! Use the masses of legislation in existence and prosecute the poor landlords and agents. Oh and have a little look at the condition much of the council stock is in around the Country!

The problem no one is mentioning is that only the landlord or a solicitor is going to be able to have legal standing in Court for enhanced Section8 if Section 21 is abolished....lots of money for lawyers and more landlords considering their positions. In 20 years of being a good (I hope) letting agent I have never had a landlord spitefully give notice to a tenant. Most landlords, shock horror, want long term tenants paying the rent.

I now actively encourage tenants to contact Environmental health when they no longer listen to me in terms of their living habits. To date I have not had one single order made against any of my clients for the condition of their properties but many many tenants have had it explained to them that they must adequately ventilate their properties!

Sorry but this article is badly misleading. There has been nothing from the Government that has granted a three month 'rent holiday' as quoted!! This article needs amending!

All very helpful but I need clarification on one key aspect; can we accept notice from tenants and can we move tenants into properties?!
