We have to vote the current shower out so they can be replaced with proper Conservative members
From:

Ive emailed my conservative MP letting them know that they will not be getting my vote again or anyone in my family and they should look forward to retirement or another job in civvy Street. Landlords need to vote Labour or Lib Dem depending on who is strongest in each constituency. That way there will be a clear out of the clowns and hopefully they are replaced with someone who has proper Conservative values. If they are replaced with more clowns keep voting them out.

Exactly right Jahan, just look at all the sub letting of flats in Grenfell tower. People given a low cost flat didn't live there ,but just made profit from other desperate people. And more importantly were not prosecuted when this was discovered. I wonder just how many other properties in London are being rented out in the same manner.

And the bread delivery operatives should forego the minimum wage as otherwise the bread would have to be £0.60 . The delivery operatives wage could then be revised once every ten years .

Please re publish this post in 12 months with the official figures regarding house prices. I believe house prices will increase as mortgage interest rates go lower and increased wages give people more money for deposits. If the so called academic experts are wrong then they can be dispensed with so their worthless predictions are not used or printed in future.

I don't think house prices will fall 3 percent in 2024. I think they will increase in value. Time will tell, but lets wait and see. Not sure why Savills are saying this ,maybe they have a hidden agenda.

The £17m will be paid by the good landlords so they can prosecute a few and pay themselves nice salaries. The tenants as usual will eventually pay . They should ask tenants if they want this scheme and tell them that they will pay for it as landlords pass the cost onto them.

You would think having been given social housing you would be able to afford £8 for a smoke alarm and £10 for a carbon monoxide alarm. I am not on the councils side ,but why does society have to wipe peoples backsides. These are adults who we treat like children.

Greater Manchester residents were given a vote for having a metro mayor. We voted No so three years later they gave us one. They gave us a vote on ULEZ and we voted No, so expect one given to us within the next few years.

I agree with them and why not take it a step further. If you have say a 4 bed family home and your three kids leave when they are adults , you should have to sell that house at a discount to someone with a family and move into a one bed property/flat.

My bet is that someone will decide that the people of Bristol didn't know what they were voting for and the post of mayor will stay or they will have to have another vote. The people of Greater Manchester were asked if they wanted a mayor and they voted NO, and then a few years later low and behold a mayor position was imposed.

I hear all the time that the are free.A CEO from one off the big six suppliers was asked if they are free does the money to supply them come from the business. He replied that the customers pay for them, but not upfront. A total waste of time and money for the customers.

Wasn't it Croydon where recently a lady was living in a council flat which had massive damp problems and they didn't do anything until the national press got involved. They should have fined themselves.

Labour may have changed their leader to a slicker more likeable face, but Momentum are still there and in numbers waiting to introduce a socialist marxist agenda which would ruin the country. Old labour voters who work and strive for better are not stupid and will give them a wide birth until the infiltrators have been removed. I do agree with building more council houses for hard working families .

Daniel you are obviously not a person who has ever run a business or probably employed anyone. Your stereotypical views show you have no idea what hard work it is to rent a property out. I try to provide the best possible property standards for the best possible price. In doing this I employ numerous workers each year which helps the economy. I do agree with anything that increases standards and stops bad landlords. However over £1000 per five years is actually too much. A council I deal with charges £500. And of course with higher costs to the landlords this will always put up rents . You must know this will happen .

Think of it this way . Lots of people will be returning back to mum and dads, or just mums . At least they can then look after Mom in her old age instead of her going into expensive public funded care.

As the TUC Congress begins today, the TaxPayers’ Alliance has revealed that the average remuneration of the top 29 public sector union bosses was £153,935 in 2019. Education union bosses topped this year’s annual Public Sector Trade Union Rich List, with six senior staff sharing £1,296,869 between them. Sally Hunt, former general secretary of the University and College Union, received £534,805, despite previously criticising university leaders for similar sized pay packets. The boss of the National Association of Head Teachers, Paul Whiteman, was the second highest paid, taking home £211,286. Meanwhile, the Association of School and College Leaders head, Geoff Barton, earned £174,206, almost 7 times the starting salary of a new teacher. The figures come after teaching unions opposed the reopening of schools, including the recent threat of strikes. Instead of industrial action, union leaders should be cutting back their salaries in the interests of parents and taxpayers. Its the union bosses who are millionaires !

I like that the consultation on licensing proposals said 22 % of landlords supported the initiative. Then what is the point of the consultation. In Greater Manchester every resident had a vote on did we want a mayor . The vote overwhelmingly said NO. Two years later we got a mayor. It was like Brexit , it doesn't matter what the voters think, they know better. Of course they do not, but they bring things in and then knob off leaving everyone to deal with the crap they created. Usually evidencing their application for their next job with just how well they did on their last.

£302 per day to turn up x 802 equals £244k. Use this money to build social housing. Add the charity money given to Shelter and we can start helping the homeless in a positive practical way instead of just talking a good job.

Maybe email your London tenants advising them that a vote for Khan that gets him elected means A. More red tape and therefore increased rent or B. Potentially having to sell up and therefore no home. Its their call.

Absolutely, as if landlords are going to rent to people who will not pay . The idiots with these silly ideas will actually harm renters as any sensible landlord will either pull out of the market or bring in guarantors. What we need is a fair system for all, but that is just not going to happen with the buffoons we have knocking about in senior positions.

I think licensing is good, but as stated it should be £100 per year maximum . The problem with councils is they then go for the easy target, usually a landlord who is fairly new and trying to work with the council. Bath council tried this with me a few years ago until I got a solicitor involved. They were trying to give me a criminal conviction for a minor infringement when there were hundreds of other properties not even licensed.

I am a student landlord and offered my students a 25% reduction on the four months left to pay .ie pay three of the four months left. The system needs looking at to make it fairer. The interest rate of 6% is wrong and should be half that. With teachers going on strike and universities closing early students have had a raw deal this year and I believe they should not have to pay the whole of the fees as the University has not taught them all year. The silly 500k plus head salaries should also be looked at.
