Morning All, Can anyone answer my question re CGT. I have just sold a property back to the council because they have plans to demolish the block. On top of the purchase price, they paid me a Home Loss Payment of £19,000. Do I have to pay capital gains tax on the £19,000?

My possession hearing was due to take place on the 3rd September. On the 1st September they also adjourned the case due to judicial unavailability!! Is this a tactic to keep tenants in the properties for longer while raking up the rent arears? If the government ask landlords to help with housing, they can F****K Off!

Ferey, I am not a racist. I have tenants of various nationalities born in the UK. They have worked, paid their taxes and national insurance and I welcome those people as my tenants especially as they may have waited years to get accommodation.

One of my flats have always been C rated. I have kept up with all the required repairs, I haven’t altered the property, but now the property has a D rating. When I compared the old and new EPC certificate, the new one showed that the property was two square meters larger. How can that be! Is that why the rating for the flat has gone down?

Nida Obaid, I am in the same boat as you. My tenant owes me one year’s rent and has miss treated my property. The tenant also loves the fact that I can’t get rid of him. He told me he is not moving until the bailiff come. I am also waiting for a court hearing, so you are not alone.
