I sympathise with the above "GET OUT NOW, BEFORE THE RUSH" My losses, arising from the exploitation of year-long eviction ban, and subsequent complications with estate agents, amounted to £34,000, and that was my only house. I was working away, paying rent to someone else, while 'the tenant' was taking revenge on me, by exploiting the ban. I'd never done her any harm.

Section 21 will be abolished everywhere, and a whole host of other suffocating measures will be introduced, until all of the properties are owned by huge corporations. Then, all of the restrictions will be removed and Generation Rent will be weeping into their cider.

I'm afraid that it is the opposite, in extreme. As far as this government's concerned, no one who isn't a billionaire should be allowed to profit from property.

You think that this is socialism? Who is imposing the constraints? I wouldn't call Johnson or Truss socialists.

I think that it's quite deliberate. They want to remove small landlords, with relationships to their tenants, forcing them to sell to the fat-cats. Remove the good-quality competition. When the eviction ban was temporarily lifted in September 2020, they kept it open just long enough to enable the big boys to remove their belligerent tenants. Then the axe fell again and stayed for a further nine months. It was blatant discrimination.

Every agent I've tried seems to be making a deliberate mess of marketing my house, always showing the least flattering pictures. Has it been known for agents to run down a property so that an associate can get it on the cheap? I believe they call it nepotism.

I'm trying to sell my house now after being flayed alive by this government and its criminal-shielding eviction ban, spurred on by the unaccountable, glory-seeking busy-body burnham. If Councils need houses, perhaps they should offer to buy them.

Shelter, Crisis and GenerationRent, absolutely refuse to acknowledge that a devastating social housing crisis may arise from the exploitation of this eviction ban. I have actively discouraged people who were thinking of letting, by telling them about my experience. Many were shocked and disgusted by the behaviour. Given that reaction, I wonder what Buckland is scared of? There must be landlords who haven't been impacted by this, but who now see the risks and the attitudes and have decided to chuck it.

It would be useful if there was a way of putting the fear of legal action into the minds of these state-sponsored-squatters. Mine has got at least one of her sons living with her now. She is committing council tax fraud by claiming 25% discount. She has admitted to the court that she owes me £4,000, but says she is behind with her council tax as well. She has put her 18yr+ sons down as dependants. She says that her working hours have been reduced, yet she is not claiming any benefits.

I asked the bailiff who has stopped the eviction and he said it is HMCTS. They won't allow bailiffs to enter the homes of obstinate freeloaders, even if the bailiffs are perfectly happy to do so. Who is this supposed to protect? Of course I've tried to draw their attention to the fact that this is a devastatingly clear injustice, but I can't find a way of asking a specific question.

I've started a money claim, but I've been told that courts take a dim view of several partial claims on the same case. I can't get a full assessment of the cost until the tenant is out and I have my house back. I have no idea when that will be because it is held by some obscure pen-pusher.

Dear Sebastian, Sorry, I haven't been here for a while. I didn't do the checking; My MP did. He offered to try to get housing benefits paid directly to me after I told him about my situation. When he was told that she wasn't claiming, he checked with Universal Credit and was told that she wasn't claiming that either. I naively assumed that she must be working. But thanks for pointing that out. Oh, incidentally, despite the warrant being poised for action, the bailiff has been told to hold off, by someone. No one seems to know who. So she is still there, still working, still not paying, still working, still not paying, still working, still not paying.

Aw, come on; be fair! What about this swingeing self-sacrifice! "Mr Khan will take an immediate reduction in his £152,734 salary, cutting it by almost £15,300". How is this poor man going to scrape a living on little more than £137,000?

It's just the same as with Andy Burnham and Keir Starmer. They're just glory seekers. They haven't got the mental capacity to understand the side effects of their proposals. The concept of a dishonest tenant immorally abusing an instrument of protection is alien. They're not accountable to such sub-species as, say, members of the public. Prigs.

You too? Well it isn't really a surprise; there must be thousands of us who have become victims of opportunism, backed by government arrogance. I was encouraged by the end of the eviction ban and the setting of the eviction date. However, about ten days before it was due to take place, a new eviction ban was introduced. This was not from central government, but no one can or is willing to tell me who is responsible. Meanwhile, the tenant continues to live, rent free.

That's an interesting thought, but I'd end up in prison and she would be free to make lots of money from selling her sob story as a victim of the evil landlord. It would be better to knock some sense into the idiots who are making the laws. They don't care about the hardship because they are not affected by it. It's 14 months since I started proceedings to get her out and if this tier 3 situation merges with the Christmas ban it could be 18 months, with me still in the same situation. If these bleeding hearts are so concerned, why don't they buy my house from me. There you go Rotherham Council; wanna buy a house?

Given the atrocious treatment by this government and the grotesquely distorted attitude towards landlords, among the gimme gimme brigade, so many landlords are likely to sell-up and get out of the game. Then the remaining lettings will be in such high demand, rents are likely to rise significantly. No doubt that there will then be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Same here, but until I can get the opportunist out of my house, I am forced to provide her with FREE accommodation. The eviction ban continues around Sheffield.

I would prefer rolling one month, because I don't want to commit to six months, only to find that a neighbour is a nuisance. The uncertainty often puts me off renting and I'll look for lodgings.

Going back to John Green's comment about selfishness (April). I can see this point of view when it comes to tenants that have been hit (in some cases hit hard) by this situation. There will be many tenants, just like mine, who have not been prepared to negotiate. She will not respond to phone calls or letters. I know from checking with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit, that she has been working throughout. She hasn't been affected by Covid; she is simply taking advantage. If I want to be charitable, allow me to choose a worthy cause.
