The council seem to think they have a right to charge what they want. I see no reason why landlords should not charge councils for any time spent on council related tasks.

Not me. I have always believed it's important to make my homes energy efficient. To save the environment? No. Because good homes mean happy tenants. Happy tenants mean low hassle. It's worked for 40 years so far.

As soon as someone start with "From the evidence I have seen" means that he isn't really convinced that what he is saying is actually true and he is just covering himself. Basically he wants to be important and have something to say and is therefore making something up.

I doubt this very much. I think most older renters haven't given it a thought and don't even know what it is about. Stupid pressure groups need to get a hobby. Basket weaving would be good.

Natwest has always been a halfhearted supporter of b2let. This just gives them an excuse. Interesting the B of E claims inflation is not falling but both fuel and energy prices have gone down. All seems a bit suspect. Maybe NatWest are not the only ones using inflation as a tool to manipulate the situation.

Let's face it this ecoactivist stuff is just a platform for peopled at the top to get themselves noticed in some arena. They don't really care about the cause they claim to be fighting for.

So if I decide to downsize in retirement and buy a new build close to my children I will be prevented? Totally unworkable as that is discrimination and I would need to appeal to the ECHR which Starmer supports!

Me to. Make that half a million +1 and after 40 years. The whole system sees landlords as a target, totally unfair and they deserve the housing chaos they are going to experience.

Do they sit around a table every morning trying to brainstorm the next project they can hit landlords with. It will be compulsory and will involve a fee payable by the landlord to fund it as usual!

This is called screw as much money out of the UK tax payer as possible and when/if the country's finances ever get in a healthier state 😂 do you think taxes will ever come down? Not a chance. Too many government outsourcers wanting their cut of the pie!

'would mean that such properties would no longer be provided with a free domestic waste collection'. I didn't realise waste collections were free. I thought it was paid for in the council tax!

The problem seems to be people turning buy 2 let's on average housing estates into short term AirB and B lets for multiple people. Some houses have been rented basically as party houses for large numbers of people to party on quiet estates. It doesn't seem to be the people renting a room in their home that is the target.

Tourists bring a massive amount of money into Wales already. This is simply a way of scamming more money out of the hard working public for the Welsh government to waste on another pointless projects.

Baroness Alicia Kennedy director of Generation Rent! Someone with a title and money sticking their nose in and causing trouble when it is not needed. She was clearly short of a hobby.

Currently this does not include basic rate tax payers. So the key is to either invest via a company or make sure that you remail a basic rate tax payer, which lets face it is still a comfortable income.

I bought a lovely two bed terraced the week before last, £15,000 deposit on a £60,000 buy to let mortgage, even less deposit if I was buying for myself. All I can say is that if the younger generation can't save up enough for a deposit on that then they don't want it enough. They need to give up their Costa Coffee, newest iphone, nights out getting boozed up and spreading Covid and start saving and oh yes accept that they don't get it fully furnished with all the best gear when they move in. When I moved into my first home I had a gas cooker from the second hand shop, an old sofa that the neighbour was throwing out my bed from my parents house and an tv I picked up for £10 from a friend which I stood on an old tea chest in the corner. No central heating and a two bar electric fires in the bedroom and living room. That would probably be reportable to the EU court of human rights these days - and before someone asks, no I didn't have to walk to work in bare feet!

You do have to ask why they were looking for somewhere to rent on Craigslist in the first place. After reading this article I have just searched on Craiglist for a room to rent in Manchester and it is has come up with a list of postings clearly offering a room in exchange for benefits. Does our legal system really need to waste tax payers money acting against such adverts? Some of the adverts are laughable. I am surprised that any woman would actually take them seriously or be naive enough to not see through them.

Far infrared panels are worth a look. As is storage heaters on some of the new on smart meters. There's always a solution. Heat pumps do work well but are massively overpriced by suppliers at the minute. I have a 22kWh pump on my house and it cost me £3500 fitted.

Loads of time to plan yet and who knows what new technology will come out in the next 10 years. The government can't afford to let lots of people freeze to death in their homes and many home owners can less afford to change to new tech than landlords can. A solution will be found.

It's logical if you think about it. A retiree with a 4 bedroom property, with a wife and kids that have left home can rent their house for £1500 a month, move into smaller one or two bed property with a rent of say £600-£700 a month. Freeing up cash for themselves. No large house to heat and clean. Spend the surplus cash on holidays. They will no be tempted into expensive equity release for their home and so can leave it to their kids, minus a bit of CGT for any value increase whilst it was rented. Their landlord also gets tenants who will take care of their property as if it was their own. Win win win!

It's all part of business. If you haven't planned for possible downs in income, as clearly a lot of the big companies haven't, then you should be in a different job. If you're now sat there with the expensive car in the drive, or the holiday villa in Spain and worrying about your rental income then maybe you should have invested the surplus cash first before splashing out!

Lots of people stuck in houses with family members that they have now learned that they cannot live with anymore. People will be desperate for their own space. As regards job losses one person's bankruptcy is another ones opportunity. (I'm already looking at cafe-bars for sale in Spain at massively reduced prices). The economy will pick up and with Brexit on the way and reduced immigration there is going to be a workforce shortage.
