The Residential Landlord Association (RLA), National Landlord Association (NLA), Leeds Landlords’ Accreditation Scheme (LLAS) and Unipol have teamed up with Leeds City Council to launch ‘The Leeds Rental Standard’, a new accreditation mark for the private rented sector in the city.
The idea behind the new initiative, aimed primarily at landlords, is to bring unity to the city by incorporating the existing schemes provided by the RLA, NLA, LLAS and Unipol under one certification ‘badge’, designed to establish an overarching minimum standard for privately rented accommodation.
Landlords in Leeds that sign up to The Leeds Rental Standard will be able to benefit from discounts on local licensing schemes, the chance to be self-regulating and have the opportunity to resolve any tenant complaints without council involvement, gain access to council housing officers for advice and guidance, as well as have access to the Private Tenant Letting Scheme which will find them tenants and provide them the support to maintain the tenancies.
