An astute landlord has bought a penthouse at the Olympic park at Stratford, East London, with a guaranteed tenant – the BBC.

The Beeb will occupy the property as their anchor studio during the Games and will pay £117,000 in rent until September 2012.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse flat was bought by Mrs Jane Mosajada, of Surrey, for £435,000 at auction. The Mosajada family have also recently bought a penthouse in Dublin at an Allsop auction of distressed Irish properties.

The guide price given for the Olympic penthouse by Allsop was £400,000.

The property was one of six on the Olympics site being auctioned, but the other five, all two-bedroomed, made only £200,000 each.

Allsop said it was disappointed with the prices, with auctioneer Michael Linanes saying: “It is clear that due to the difficulties in obtaining finance at the moment, investors are running out of cash to spend.”

The properties were being sold after developers London Green Development went into administration.
