A landlord and tenant insurer is conducting an urgent review of some of its contracts, amidst reports of two executives at Barbon insurers having been suspended as the result of an FSA crackdown.

The probe may result in tenants being contacted shortly by HomeLet, one of Barbon's brands.

It is understood that they will be asked if they are happy that they were sold their HomeLet contents insurance policies correctly.

Letting agents generally sell the products, which specialise in both landlord and tenant policies.

It is believed that some wording – since changed – was at the heart of the problem .

A spokesman for HomeLet said: “HomeLet is involved in a review process which may lead to policyholders with tenants’ contents policies being contacted about how such contracts were purchased.

“This is a thorough process to ensure it meets the company’s required standards.

“HomeLet continues to provide insurance products and services to existing and new customers.

“HomeLet is committed to best practice in the service it offers to landlords and tenants via agents.”
