Rents across Greater London are 4.8% higher than this time last year, says tenancy referencing firm HomeLet.
The average monthly rent in the capital is now £1,236.
However, when the Greater London statistics are removed, then the cost of renting a home in the rest of the UK has barely moved over the last 12 months.
At an average of £659 per month, it is actually 0.2% less than a year ago.
