Buy To Let companies more popular with landlords - claim

Three quarters of landlords in the UK have now used a limited company to invest in at least one of their properties, it’s being claimed.

A survey - few details of which have been released by the organisers - claims that 49 per cent of landlord respondents say they first invested via a limited company within the last 12 months, while 42 per cent have done this for the first time in the last one to three years.

Some 93 per cent of landlords surveyed who incorporated their buy to lets said they took this route to protect the profitability of their investments.

The organisers of the poll - a firm called GetGround - claims the findings tally with a previous survey conducted in May 2022, which found that 78 per cent of landlords believe investing through limited companies would help them better mitigate the impact of inflation than investing in their personal name.

The firm’s chief executive, Moubin Faizullah Khan, says: “Industry data is creating an exciting picture of limited company adoption across the landlord community, but until now, it’s not been entirely clear how many individual landlords are using limited companies and how extensively used they are among landlords’ portfolios.

“Our final poll for 2022 shows that awareness and adoption of incorporations is fast growing, and importantly, for the right reasons.

“Whether it’s affordability, protection against risk, financial viability or acting responsibly and transparently, incorporating your investments pays off.

“It is reasonable to expect that limited company adoption will continue to accelerate as we move into 2023.”

I looked into this... I'd have had to pay capital gains tax on each property I transferred into the Ltd Co at market value... You can't sell one cheap to yourself. It would have cost a fortune. Ltd Co route is fine for buying future properties but not for transferring existing properties into. They've got it all sewn up and now even the Ltd Co benefits are being eroded... They don't want you to have anything!!
