Free teach-in for landlords on eco-issues, court process and reform

A council is urging landlords to attend a conference looking at issues affecting the private rental sector.

The Renters Reform Bill, the future of green domestic heating, making homes more energy efficient and a host of other hot topics are contained in a packed agenda for the dozens of landlords expected to attend the free event run by Ashford council in Kent.

The forum is being organised in partnership with the National Residential Landlord Association and is sponsored by Swale Heating.

It will be held at the Ashford International Hotel on Wednesday September 28 between 10am and 3.30pm, and includes lunch.

Landlords will be told about the potential benefits of getting involved in the Sustainable Warmth Scheme, which aims to improve energy efficiency in domestic properties.

The White Paper and Renters Reform Bill - both published back in June - will also be discussed, and a Kent barrister will provide a guide to navigating the court process.

Marion Money from the National Residential Landlords Association then takes the delegates through the latest news from within the sector before the forum comes to a close.

Landlords have until September 16 to reserve a free place at the conference online.

No thanks… 1. I don’t live in Kent..2. If I did, I am selling up 🌈 so no need, adios and good luck to the council’s in housing all the evicted tenants.

I'm with Simon. I'm selling. You can sit there telling everyone about all the red tape we want to wrap you up in so it's difficult and you can't get out. You can take my Nigerian tenants who complain alot about the Grade E property they chose to live in. All their endless complaints. Please take their asthma claims and no-win fee solicitors too! I didn't want them for all the reasons above!

I'm not paying ££££ to upgrade my property just to keep this load of trouble and keep earning the LHA in these market conditions!

We are nearly all with Simon. That is the reality.

Why should LLs listen to anyone when no-one is listening to us!
