Labour’s Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves has campaigned for a selective licensing regime in her Leeds constituency.
She joined the city council leader and other councillors from the Labour-run authority in a walkabout in the Armley area of the city calling for selective licensing.
She told a meeting after her walkabout: “We know that disreputable landlords and unsuitable private housing is an issue in Armley. A selective licensing policy will help us address these problems head on.
“The Armley councillors and I will continue campaigning for this scheme to be rolled out in Armley as soon as possible.”
There is already a selective licensing policy in the Beeston and Harehills area of Leeds.

Oh dear this doesn’t bode well for WHEN they get into government 🤔🆘🤔🆘
I see rents continuing to rise :(
Sandra Bowes-Rennox cannot wait for Labour to win and usher in the tenants’ paradise they promise. A shame most PRS landlords will have left by then.
Shadow Chancellor Reeves campaigns for rent rises for all tenants.
There you go, fixed that
