Airbnb offers £100 to hosts joining up during Coronation

Airbnb is offering a £100 travel coupon to new Hosts welcoming their first Airbnb guest during the King’s Coronation in London this May.

The bonus scheme for new hosts encourages locals in London to make the most of the increased demand for holiday accommodation by hosting on Airbnb, generating additional revenue for themselves and their local community.

The government’s Tourism Recovery Plan identifies ‘special moments’ as major boosts for the UK travel sector.

Last year, Airbnb launched a similar bonus incentive for new Hosts welcoming their first Airbnb guest during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. That scheme increased accommodation capacity for the event and benefited the local community.

Airbnb claims hosts in London collectively earned more than £7.1m last year during the Jubilee celebrations, with the typical host earning just over £500 between June 2 and June 5. A typical private room Host in London brought in approximately £3,500 last year.

“When it comes to significant events this year, it doesn’t get bigger than King Charles’s coronation” according to Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb.

“As celebrations sweep across the UK and families visit loved ones over the additional bank holiday, Airbnb offers a unique opportunity for locals to benefit by opening their homes. Home sharing helps cities use existing space to scale up their capacity, welcome visitors during peak demand, and empower locals to provide sustainable and affordable accommodation, benefitting the local economy.”

Worst company in the world if you are a buyer, but allow unscrupulous hosts to say and do what they want! Advertise Air Cover to cover mis-description, but then argue that the description is correct, even though it clearly isn’t. I refuse to use them to stay anywhere or to let my properties. They are losing thousands in income because they have argued over a one night stay that I have taken to the BBB in the US out of principal. No-one has any common sense there because they have employed a load of cheap administrators to say No! Airbnb you are shockingly bad and I would not want my name associated with you.
