Landlords! Let Michael Gove know what you think of his policies

Landlords will be able to let Housing Secretary Michael Gove know exactly what they think of his policies in October.

Gove will be the keynote speaker at the National Residential Landlords Association conference on October 24.

The one-day event, to be chaired by the BBC’s Clive Myrie, will be at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.

The association says the day will provide attendees with updates on forthcoming rental reforms and their impact on the Private Rented Sector, mortgages, investment and finance, and briefings on other industry-relevant topics.

NRLA chief Ben Beadle says: “With an outstanding host in Clive Myrie and a wealth of exceptional speakers, this is the event to be at for all those with an interest in the Private Rented Sector.

“Most importantly though, it is an ideal opportunity for the Secretary of State to set out his plans to ensure a thriving private rented sector.

“I hope that he will also be informed by the views of the 500 plus landlords and letting agent delegates already signed up to attend, who are doing great work in difficult circumstances.”

    Simply put:

    John Adams

    I think that's a fair assessment.

An accurate critique of his policies 😂

    Very well put!

One or two extra in my opinion

In all honesty he’s not there to listen to anything. He’s just paying lip service. I wouldn’t bother trying to tell him anything. He’s an arrogant so and so.

They haven't listened at all to landlords in the past. That's why there are so many Section 21 notices being served at the moment.

I would put the Police 👮🏻‍♀️ On alert for riots 🆘🆘

One would think that, but generally landlords are very well behaved, law abiding people who pay huge amounts of taxes and comply with all legislation completely.

However, I doubt very much that they will vote Conservative in the next election.

The trouble is Ellie, who would you vote for?
A vote for anyone else gets Labour into power, who will no doubt be a lot worse than the Tories.
'out of the frying pan into the fire' comes to mind?

That is a very good point, John.

One would think Labour would be even worse towards Landlords than the Tories. However, Welsh Labour retained the right of Landlords to end tenancies on a no fault basis. Their legislation was fairer than the Renters Reform Bill.

Great opportunity for a special.motion at the AGM to remove Beadle on a lack of confidence motion. NLRA have been Absolutely useless watching their own business being destroyed whilst enjoying snoozing with Gove(ment).

    Peter Why Do I Bother

100% agreed on that point, activists piping up with propaganda and Beadles About at every free lunch available...

The minister for tenants and levelling down would be a more fitting title for this crooked back stabber who leave’s everything he is involved in in a far worse state than when he’s started. The result of his incredible policy’s is simply more homelessness. He must be so proud of his achievements.

He will probably come out with some patronising b*****ks telling us how we are doing such an important job and how much the new act will improve the housing sector. The man is of course a two faced, delusional cretin, but then these are the essentials for anyone wishing to join the cabinet these days.

    Peter Why Do I Bother

More faces than a Rubix Cube that guy..!

People like Gove mostly grew up with a massive sense of entitlement and probably despise scruffy tenants even more than us scruffy landlords. Remember it was Gove who wanted to model the state school sector on Marlborough College (his alma mater) and started a campaign against the state system at the time.

So politicians love-bomb the tenant pressure groups and agree to their demands, knowing full well how they are being massacred as they are cutting off the branch that supports them, whilst paving the way for "professional" outfits like BTR to take over and leave no provision for the sort of people that tenant groups represent. When the PRS is gone, along with all the tenants, then GR et al will of course have no reason to exist.

So ticket cost for this barrel of laughs - Usual ticket price for non members is £240, but if you become an NRLA member, you can get your ticket for £150 inc. So trying to get new members or just coining it in. Either way no real benefit or merit for real world landlords. Gove has no intention of listening and Beadle gets to stand on a stage and pretend he is playing with the big kids whilst the NRLA make more money for not doing their job!

Unfortunately the Socialist policies of the last 8 yrs have increased rent by 50%+
Created less Rented accommodation than there was.
Is about to create the biggest homelessness crisis by the time the election happens for a key battle ground to fight.
A rental housing shortage for the next decade.
An ill liquid inflexible workforce unable to move to new jobs in new areas without a property to move too... So huge skill shortages and stagnate businesses with falling tax receipts
All in All a fabulous improvement to free market thinking and economic output....
    Brilliant
