Dog Eat Dog implies 2 dogs (or wrong-doers), so how about changing that to Dog Eat Investor in this instance? The living that a landlord gets from renting property to their tenant is usually the result of considerable investment (of money they've earned) and good management. Conversely - Local government's [expected] returns from local landlords [in this scenario] is the result of wasting money (that's been given to them) and poor management.

For crying out loud! Yes, the law states that a tenant must have the 'protection' of a gas safety certificate and we, as landlords, need to comply but who the hell has a gas safe inspection done on every gas appliance in their own family home every year? Are normal householders killing their wives/husbands and kids by the thousand every year just because they don't have one of these magical gas safety certificates? Why, if every tenants' safety is in serious jeopardy without annual checks and certification, does the Government not legislate for the same level of compliance for owner-occupiers - or is their safety not as important as tenants? Have a sense of perspective on this.
