Another PropTech integration pledges to disrupt rental market

Another PropTech innovation claims it will disrupt part of the rental market - this time, the student accommodation sector.

Housemates Connect API claims to allow businesses to easily integrate with the company’s online platform, currently used by students from over 20 countries - mostly the UK, Ireland and Australia.

Housemates chief executive Lydia Jones says CEO of Housemates says the platform currently lists over 1.2m student beds across the UK, Ireland and Australia.

She states the API “represents a major step forward in our efforts to provide innovative, tech-driven solutions for the student accommodation market.” She adds that it is “a first for the sector.”

Housemates, founded by Jones in 2020, is headquartered in Manchester and has an office in Bangalore, India.

During 2022 it launched two features named Payments+ and Housemates Tag.

The company has been backed by GC Angels and claims to be “the leading provider of student accommodation solutions in a fast growing sector.”

“Whether businesses are looking to integrate property search functionality or enable bookings through their own platform, [the] API makes it easy.

“This highly intuitive booking engine is a breakthrough moment in the student accommodation marketplace and enables businesses to unlock additional revenue.

“This also paves the way for further growth for Housemates and benefits all our stakeholders.

“During 2023 we are set to make more exciting announcements that will propel our solutions and offering to another new level.”
