A Build To Rent support group says AI and better technology must be matched by nore information about the experience renters can expect.

Love to Rent wants online rental search to move beyond bedrooms, price and postcode, and give consumers a clearer understanding of what it will actually be like to live in a home.

AI is already changing property search on many websites and instead of selecting from a fixed set of filters, consumers can increasingly describe their priorities in everyday language – from commuting and schools to pets, green space, community and affordability.

Love to Rent believes this shift could make finding a home more intuitive and personal. 

However, it warns that the quality, consistency and independence of the information behind the search will be critical.

A spokesperson says: “People do not simply choose the number of bedrooms and a postcode. They are choosing how they want to live, who they will be renting from and what service and support they can expect once they have moved in.

“AI has the potential to make finding a home much more intuitive, but it will only be as useful as the information behind it. 

“Renters need clear and reliable detail about management, amenities, pets, community, flexibility and the overall resident experience, not simply a new way to search the same basic listings.”

A promotional week for Build To Rent begins on September 28.
