Landlord Regulator advertises for Welsh-speaking staff

The nearest thing to a national landlord register operating anywhere in the UK is seeking new staff - and they must be Welsh speaking.

According to its own publicity, Rent Smart Wales “assists those who let or manage rental properties in Wales to comply with their Housing (Wales) Act 2014 obligations and provides advice on renting out safe and healthy homes. We also process landlord registrations, grant licences and deliver informative and relevant training for those involved in the rental market both online and in classroom venues across Wales.”

The service is run from Cardiff but protects private tenants and assists landlords and agents to comply across Wales.

Now it is advertising for “Welsh speaking enthusiastic people” to be “Customer Service Representatives.” These will work in a Contact Centre “delivering a high standard of customer service via telephone and email. In addition, part of the role includes processing activities such as licence applications.”

The post holder will be required to support and advise a wide range of customers, both internal and external to the organisation and aim to make sure that customer enquiries are resolved at the initial point of contact, where possible. Salary is from £23,893 to £25,979.

Advertisements describe this as “a Welsh Essential Position, which means that the successful applicant must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written Welsh to Level 4 (advanced standards).”

Applicants are told that “applications received in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than English applications.”
